thank you

In my recent attempts to list my top ten rock songs, I've come to realize two things. 1) There are a shit load more than 10 rock songs I would call "The best rock song of all time" 2) Without rock music, I'd be a very different person.

I really doubt I'm the first person to note how music is a fundamental part of living, growing, and just enjoying life. We can all name songs that have influenced how we look at one situation or another; songs that comfort us when we're feeling low; songs that feel low with us and of course songs that work very well with our rage. Sometimes you just need to hear a song that uses the word "Fuck" violently over and over again, right?

But I don't just mean lyrics. Lyrics, awesome as they can be, are still just part of the song. There are plenty of awesome, heart-breaking, soul-shaking songs that don't even have a single lyric. Santana's Samba Pa Ti, for example. Point is, without music in my life, I might not be the insane, romantic, idealistic, pessimistic freak that I am.

I want to take this moment to thank music (especially classic rock music) for giving me a soul and teaching me how to feel. I loved you before I knew how to breathe.
